See our blog article for further photos and information about destination weddings. From an exotic beach to a remote mountain top, we have the experience to offer you the best of wedding photography.
Destination wedding photography is something we get asked about fairly often. It is one of the most exciting days of your life, and the planning and details can seem overwhelming. You may question if you need to also bring a wedding photographer with you for your wedding? There is no easy answer, as that is a question only you can answer.
The biggest factor would be how important the photography is to you. While many of the resorts offer photographers, you are often left hoping that you like the style and personality of the person who happens to be working that day. Bringing a destination wedding photographer with you allows you to choose the style and person that will be capturing your special day. It is an option to consider and the pricing may be a pleasant surprise. In fact the cost of bringing a photographer with you may actually be similar to adding the resort photographer for the day.
For destination weddings, we require that we arrive on site 24 hours prior to the wedding. This allows us time to explore the area to determine the best locations for your wedding photography, to ensure that areas we choose won’t be underwater at high tide, and to determine the best routes to get us to locations quickly and safely. As everything typically happens right on the resort, we will typically quote with only one photographer. Doing this allows a lower price point, as travel is only required for one photographer, while still capturing beautiful photographs. If you would like both photographers, let us know and we can certainly accommodate that as well
Mountain Top Wedding Photography
Mountain Top Wedding Photography???? This is a thing? It most definitely is. We have been fortunate to work with Alpine Helicopters in Canmore to photograph a bride and groom at the top of a mountain in the majestic Rocky Mountains. Whether it is a mountain summit or a remote mountain lake, helicopter photographs are an option that we are familiar with.
Not comfortable with helicopters, then lets do a hike and capture your adventure wedding or adventure engagement photographs. We know of several hikes, ranging from easy to difficult (especially with 40 lbs of camera gear strapped to my back) that will capture some stunning backdrops in the Canadian Rockies.
Being a destination wedding photographer does not always mean exotic beaches and oceans. It can be to another country, a mountain top, or a hike into a private get away. Regardless of your dream, we are always willing to sit down and see how we can achieve your vision.
Destination Wedding Photography Pricing
As there are so many options with destination wedding photography, it is difficult to provide a single package price. Contact us to discuss your wedding details and get a detailed and customized quote. Regardless of your budget we will develop a package that offers you the best value for your money.
In cases where we travel outside the country, we require that we arrive at least 24 hours prior to any destination wedding. This is so that we can plan out the photo shoot, as well as the behind the scenes details. We spend that time finding the perfect locations, determining lighting as well as the best routes between locations. Details such as determining what the tides will be so that we do not plan on a photo location that is underwater at the time you need.
There are many factors to consider when planning a wedding, especially a destination wedding. We have been through this many times and will always offer suggestions and advice to help guide you.
Together, we will determine the proper permits and entry visas for the location. When budgeting, it is important to note that clients are responsible for the travel fees, such as flights, accommodations, and permits.
